Science + writing = inspiration

After 17 years in the corporate world, I transitioned to freelance technical writing for the biotech and agriculture industries. Combining my passion for science with my love of writing is an inspiring journey that I’m excited to share with my clients.

I grew up in rural Iowa and spent most of my days outdoors exploring the world. My appreciation and respect for nature and living things led me to degrees in biology and environmental studies. Several years later, I earned a master’s degree in crop science. The majority of my time in the corporate world was spent in research and development and sales roles with Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences. I have experience working closely with farmers to improve their profitability potential. I’ve also helped develop and test new corn traits and genetics before they become commercial products.

Most recently, I worked for a public relations agency supporting clients in the agriculture industry with marketing and communications strategies. I’m well-versed in creating editorial calendars, drafting digital and print content and creating media pitches that get attention. My agency work has earned multiple awards from organizations, including the National Agri-Marketing Association and Public Relations Society of America.

I enjoy researching and learning new things, so working with a diverse mix of clients while freelancing has been so motivating for me. I’m always open to taking on new and exciting projects, so please reach out and let’s collaborate!
